Summary/Abstract: This study aims to highlight the role of travel and literary geography in shaping the poetic imagination of Adrian Popescu, one of the representative voices of the Echinox generation. Drawing on the perspective of geocriticism and the concept of literary geography, the paper examines the ways in which Romanian and European spaces, particularly Italian ones, are incorporated into the poet’s lyrical discourse and transformed into symbolic markers of poetic identity. Travel emerges as both an initiatory experience and a mode of knowledge, while poetic geography develops into a network of real and symbolic places that reflects the poet’s attachment to the European cultural space and, at the same time, his enduring connection to his Transylvanian roots. Through the interplay of memory, cultural references, and spatial representation, Adrian Popescu’s poetry constructs a distinctive poetic universe in which geographical space becomes an essential dimension of cultural identity and artistic expression.
