Summary/Abstract: This article includes a range of evidence that offers multiple perspectives on literacy in pedagogical terms, as well as on reading for learning. The main theme is the flexibility of literacy, as contextualized in current socio-educational conditions and its role in addressing and possible responses to the formative challenges of education and our current, highly connected world. The discursive framework includes evidence for the conceptualization of literacy as a multifaceted textual-communicative capacity; as an intellectual competence that encompasses a multitude of meanings, an interaction of the student reader with the text, etc.; those of learning, with the valorization of infocompetence, with new literacy skills; those of socio-cultural, converging with the use of literacy in everyday life, with students' literacy identities.
