Books for Children and Young People about Henryk Wieniawski as a Tool for Cultural and Regional Education

Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is the value of novels about Henryk Wieniawski, addressed to children and young people, in the field of cultural and regional education, or more precisely, their educational relevance. These are Legendy o Wieniawskim by Władysław Bodnicki (Warsaw 1957), Czarodziejskie skrzypce. Opowieść o Henryku Wieniawskim by Eustachy Czekalski (Warsaw 1958) and W podróży ze skrzypcami. Opowieść o Henryku Wieniawskim by Anna Czerwińska-Rydel (Łódź, Poznań 2014). Books about the history of music serve well to popularize musical culture, if they are properly promoted. The research question concerned the value of the mentioned literary works in cultural and regional education. The aim of the research was to clarify the issue of educational relevance of these three novels. The following research methods were used: the analysis of the content of the works and the external side of their book editions, as well as the analysis of media statements, including readers' statements, about the books that were the subject of the research procedure. The study found that Czerwińska-Rydel's publication on Wieniawski is educationally relevant. Biographies of musicians should be used in reading education on regional topics, conducted in public libraries and schools.
