Summary/Abstract: This study examines the folk children’s games, play culture, and the transformation of play practices in the village of Skorenovac (Székelykeve), Vojvodina, from the mid-1930s to 1989. Its primary objective is to explore the games known and practiced by children of the Bukovina Székely community, the ways in which these traditions were transmitted across generations, and how they changed under the influence of broader social and cultural transformations. The research is based on fieldwork, including the analysis of life history interviews conducted with twelve informants born in Skorenovac, complemented by a review and comparison of the relevant ethnographic literature. The findings demonstrate that collective play constituted a fundamental setting for children’s socialization, the acquisition of community norms and values, and their physical and intellectual development. The study presents the processes of the intergenerational transmission of games, examines changes in play occasions and play spaces, and analyses the impact of the increasing availability of commercial toys from the 1960s onward, as well as the influence of local, gender, and ethnic factors on children’s knowledge of games and play practices.
