Summary/Abstract: This contribution offers an analysis of the engaged dimension of the detective novels by Driss Chraïbi, focusing on "Une enquête au pays" and "L’homme qui venait du passé", respectively the first and the last detective novel written by the author. The aim is to show how, beyond the simple detective plot and the conventions of crime fiction, Chraïbi uses the genre as a literary space for social and political criticism. Through the recurring character of Inspector Ali, the writer observes with irony and lucidity the injustices, inequalities and abuses of power that manifest themselves in political institutions, bureaucratic practices, and even in the daily lives of ordinary individuals. The detective novel therefore becomes a privileged framework for exploring the social mechanisms, contradictions and tensions of the contemporary Moroccan world. Combining humour, satire and critical reflection, Chraïbi denounces corruption, hypocrisy and authoritarian practices while highlighting the moral and social defects that deeply affect society and shape human relationships.
