The Horizon of Disappointments: The Title, Clickbait, and the Origin of a Web-Based Poem

Summary/Abstract: This article analyses the poetic and rhetorical functioning of digital paratexts in poems published on online poetry websites, with particular emphasis on Nieszuflada. The category of paratext is employed alongside terminology drawn from platform and software studies. The initial question of this paper concerns the expectations generated by the modes of navigation and the mechanisms through which web-based poems are activated and accessed. The primary analytical corpus comprises the works of Tomasz Pułka, with special attention paid to his practices of formatting poem titles so as to function as provocative and socially oriented forms of clickbait.
