Summary/Abstract: Nicolae Hasnaş (1875–1966), remarkable doctor, journalist, liberal politician, senator, deputee and prefect of the Gorj County, was deeply concerned with the Romanian school system. During 1922-1926 he was representative of Gorj County in the Romanian Senate, and in this period the Liberal Party promoted the most important law of education of interwar Romania. Hasnaş showed a deep knowledge of school life and he was also a bold representative of its modernisation. Nicolae Hasnaş attended all school teachers’ Congresses and was willing to help by delivering speeches on various topics. He knew very well the financial situation of teachers and he did everything he could to support them.
