Summary/Abstract: Transnational cooperation has a long history and has been the object of interest of many countries for years. It is perceived, inter alia, as one of the elements of improving the level of their international security. Security, which is of paramount importance for each country, is the result of many different factors, among which it is the cooperation of countries that form certain alliances, flu or pacts that plays a special role. Nowadays, ensuring a high level of security for individual regions is certainly a supranational goal. As the experience so far shows, thanks to the joint efforts of groups of states, it is achieved by engaging the potential of all interested parties. An example of this approach is the establishment of the Visegrad Group as a platform for joint activities of four countries: the Czech Republic, the Republic of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. Thanks to joint efforts, the defense policy of individual countries becomes more visible among the public and on the international forum. This is happening with public approval and pressure from countries allies of the NATO treaty. It can be expected that this upward trend will continue despite the emerging economic slowdown due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the article is to identify and assess the evolution of the defense sufficiency of the Visegrad group states since 2015. The research problem undertaken has been specified in the following form: What factors directly affect the level of defense sufficiency of the Visegrad group states and what actions should be taken to improve this level? The material uses the results of research carried out with the use of: research in the literature on the subject, selected statistical methods, comparative studies and inference. The adopted approach made it possible to obtain a cross-sectional character of the considerations, at the same time providing the basis for further, extended research on this extremely important and current problem.
