Summary/Abstract: Today, the principles of contrastive analysis are still valid. The subject of this study was brewing and malting terminology. The aim of the study was, using contrastive analysis, to classify the terms into word fields. Another task of the report was to see whether there is a change in terminology over time, whether different English-speaking countries use different terms for the same process, or whether the terms are unified. A corpus of scientific literature from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, and Bulgaria was studied, covering the period from the 1930s to the present. The terminology was divided into four lexical fields with 41 terms in total. Only the terms of one word field („Natural processes”) were examined in more detail with definitions and their translation equivalents in English. The study showed that some changes have occurred in the terms in Bulgarian, while in English there is a unification of the terminology. The possible practical applications of this classification were also indicated – in foreign language teaching and translation.
