Summary/Abstract: The present study explores play as a pedagogical resource for the development of imagination in preschool children, with a particular focus on socio- dramatic play. A diagnostic and control assessment was conducted with 18 children from a preparatory group over a two-week period. The results indicate that the initial manifestations of symbolic substitution, narrative construction, role negotiation, and rule-following appeared at a basic level, often fragmented and inconsistent. After a series of structured socio-dramatic episodes, significant progress was observed: symbolic transformations became more creative, narratives more sustained and enriched, roles more consistently coordinated, and new elements were introduced more dynamically. The findings confirm the significance of socio-dramatic play in stimulating imagination as both an individual and a collective process, and highlight the teacher’s role as a facilitator of shared narrative construction.
