Summary/Abstract: The study aims to address the issue of academic writing, from the perspective of raising awareness of its importance and identifying models of good practice. The investigation sought to highlight connections between the self-assessed level of academic writing skills and a better understanding of the writing process, compliance with formal requirements, including those related to writing ethics, and the proper use of bibliographic sources. The sample of subjects consisted of 50 first year master's students from the humanities and social sciences. The results obtained from the applied opinion questionnaire confirmed the established hypotheses, while also emphasizing the need for students to participate in academic writing courses.
