Summary/Abstract: Tang Jianping’s pipa concerto “Spring and Autumn” was composed in 1994 to commemorate the 2545th anniversary of Confucius’ birth. The composer conveys the profound connotations of Confucian culture through musical means. Drawing on theories of musical narratology and cultural semiotics, this study employs text analysis and cross-cultural comparative methods to systematically examine the cultural context of the era in which the composer and his works were situated. It then thoroughly explores the thematic motivations, structural layout, and orchestration techniques of the works, revealing their musical narrative and historical implications. Finally, taking “Confucius” as the core cultural symbol, the study analyzes the role of the Confucius Institutes at the University of Sofia and the University of Veliko Tarnovo in cultural dissemination across Central and Eastern Europe. The findings indicate that this work establishes an intertextual effect between musical language and cultural transmission, thereby providing a pathway for cultural exchange between China and Central and Eastern Europe. The study innovatively combines musical technique analysis with cross-cultural communication research, proposing a ‘symbol-narrative-transmission’ analytical framework.
