Summary/Abstract: This study examines current issues in the taking of evidence in Hungarian civil procedure, regarding the practical and theoretical challenges that emerged after the entry into force of Act CXXX of 2016 on the Code of Civil Procedure. The analysis focuses on three key areas: the shortage of forensic expert capacity and the related legislative responses, the admissibility of unlawful means of taking evidence – especially secretly recorded audio and video materials – and the new evidentiary risks posed by artificial intelligence and deepfake technologies. The study argues that while the existing procedural framework is, in principle, capable of addressing these challenges, technological developments are generating increasingly complex evidentiary situations that require continuous adaptation in legal practice. The aim of the paper is to assess whether the current regulatory framework can effectively ensure procedural efficiency and maintain trust in the administration of justice in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
