Summary/Abstract: This paper presents some perspectives on the perception of Bulgarian folk songs, part of the musical activities in the primary educational stage. It examines the main historical periods related to the presence of the Bulgarian folk songs and singing in music classes, as well as the current state of primary music education, which has changed after the adoption of the new law on preschool and school education in 2016. The text includes a questionnaire survey study that aims to ascertain how songs (Bulgarian folk songs in particular) from the school repertoire are perceived in music lessons. The results visualize some problems that still wait for their pedagogical and scientific solutions.
