Summary/Abstract: There are a number of new trends in European family law, in the broad sense, that have a significant impact on both the family law of the Member States and European Union family law. In matrimonial matters, out-of-court divorces can be considered as such a practical issue, to which the provisions of recognition of the Brussels IIb Regulation had to respond. In matters of parental responsibility, new forms of parental cooperation, such as joint parental custody and shared physical custody, pose challenges for both legislators and legal practice. In this study, we analyse the changes that have occurred in these two areas of European family law and their effects.
