Summary/Abstract: The development of digital technologies has significantly transformed the everyday practices of young people, fostering a sedentary lifestyle and reducing levels of physical activity. These phenomena are increasingly interpreted as manifestations of a sedentary lifestyle crisis, which may have adverse consequences for both physical and mental health. The aim of the study was to assess the current and expected well-being of young women and men in Poland aged 16–25, as well as to analyze the relationship between well-being and the level of physical activity in the context of a health-promoting lifestyle in the digital age. In particular, the study sought to determine whether meeting the World Health Organization’s recommendations for physical activity is associated with higher levels of well-being, and whether well-being assessments vary according to selected sociodemographic factors and experiences related to sports participation.Data were collected from a representative random–quota sample (by age, gender, education, region, size of place of residence, and occupational status) of adult residents of Poland (n = 1,042). Inclusion criteria comprised permanent residence in Poland and informed consent to participate in the study. The subsample of respondents aged 16–25 (n = 164) was selected for the purposes of the present analysis. The results presented in the article are based on this subsample and were obtained using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and the Cantril Ladder to assess subjective well-being.The results indicate that more than 40% of respondents do not meet the World Health Organization’s minimum recommendations for physical activity. Participants who met these recommendations exhibited significantly higher levels of both current and expected well-being. The level of physical activity was positively correlated with well-being, although this relationship was of moderate strength. Gender, place of residence, and educational and occupational status were found to have a significant impact on well-being, whereas level of education did not differentiate assessments of life satisfaction. The findings suggest that, despite observable limitations in physical activity, it cannot be unequivocally concluded that there is a widespread crisis of a health-promoting lifestyle among young people in Poland.
