Summary/Abstract: Although the labyrinth motif is not central to Franz Kafka’s texts, its labyrinthine structure proves to be a defining factor in the spatial design of his novels "The Trial" and "The Castle". The corridors, alleys, and escape routes do not support the characters’ goals but rather exert a confusing effect on them. This article explores the extent to which the labyrinthine architecture of the space contributes to the characterization and the construction of the constellation of characters.
