Summary/Abstract: Concha Espina is increasingly recognized by scholars as part of the Silver Age of Spanish literature. However, she remains relatively little known compared to other authors of the Generation of ’98 and the Generation of ’14. Th is work situates Espina within both her literary and socio-cultural context. It also examines her regular contributions to the periodical press, where she, like many of her contemporaries, published numerous articles, short stories, and novellas, adapting them to the emerging demands of genres printed in newspapers and magazines. The article analyzes the representations of children and adolescent characters in her short narrative, with particular attention to social issues such as poverty, orphanhood, and child abuse.
