Summary/Abstract: The text focuses on the analysis of the movement of the mining collective in socialist mining as a multidimensional process that goes beyond the framework of work activity itself. Movement is understood not only as the physical process of mining tunnels, planned and standardized by technical and production documents, but also as a social and symbolic process taking place between the working and non-working space. The essay is based on the approaches of the ethnology of everyday life, the history of labor, and the microhistorical perspective and is based on the analysis of the Chronicles of the Socialist labor brigades of the mining collective in Mine Handlová in the period 1971 – 1989. Attention is paid to the tension between the planned form of work and collective life and their everyday implementation in precarious underground working conditions, technical limitations and social relations. Special emphasis is placed on the collective's extra-work activities – recreation or organizing family gatherings – which are interpreted as an important part of the formation and maintenance of collective identity. The chronicles of socialist labor brigades become a valuable source of knowledge about the space between the plan and everyday life, where a specific form of collective identity was formed in socialist mining.
