Phraseological Units (PUs) in the Research of Bulgarian Scientists

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to review the research of Bulgarian scientists on the essential theoretical topic of phraseological units (PUs). In the body of this scientific work, the focus will be put on characteristics of PUs such as polylexicality, reproductibility, fixedness, secondary nomination, etc. The goal of the paper is to clarify which of the reviewed characteristics are relevant to setting the boundary between phraseological units and lexemes and free combinations. This means distinguishing the similarities and differences in the research of the reviewed authors on the topic of characteristics of phraseological units. Furthermore, this means clarifying which of the mentioned characteristics play a key role in defining PUs as such.
