Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is Boreš of Mrákotice, a forgotten figure in Czech mediaeval canon law, and his legal treatise cited in literature according to its opening words as Collectum Magistri Borssonis. Collectum was brought to the attention of the scholarly community by Miroslav Boháček, who discovered it in the 1950s in the legal collection CO 298 preserved in the archives of the Olomouc Chapter. Because, since then, no one has carried out an in-depth examination of Boreš’s legal legacy, the submitted study could help to fill in one of the “gaps” in the history of our church law. The first part is biographical focusing on Boreš in his role as university master and then, primarily, as an archiepiscopal official (archdeacon, vicar general, officiant) active during the rule of the House of Luxembourg; the second part is historical-legal and examines the legal material incorporated into Boreš’s treatise, the focus of which is the relationship of exempt orders to the diocesan bishop in judicial and administrative areas.
