Summary/Abstract: The rapid proliferation of artificial intelligence tools has fundamentally transformed the economics of software creation. This paper examines three interconnected transformations reshaping the software industry from the perspective of economics and business studies: (1) the unique economic characteristics of software as an information good — near-zero marginal cost, network effects, and high switching costs; (2) the democratisation of software development through the emergence of AI-assisted, natural-language programming paradigms, collectively termed 'vibe coding'; and (3) the principal risks and limitations arising from these new development paradigms, including code security vulnerabilities and structural platform dependency.
