Summary/Abstract: This article aims to dissect the discursive strategies employed in the discourse of supplementary course teachers in Algeria. In a climate of intense rivalry, these "service providers"deploy discursive strategies, which can be described as distinctive, to attract their customers. This research, based on a qualitative and pragmatic analysis of a diverse corpus (online videos, interviews with students), highlights the frequent use of hyperbole and superlatives. The analysis reveals the construction of a supreme expert ethos through almost "miraculous" promises of success and oaths.Another tactic consists of criticizing public schools while presenting themselves as the panacea for success. These practices are corroborated by the semi-structured interviews, while providing a nuance:although students are receptive, they frequently detect the commercial motivations underlying this promotional discourse.
