Summary/Abstract: Loans granted by credit institutions represent an important source of financing, which can ensure sustainable economic growth. This paper proposes an analysis of the evolution of loans granted by commercial banks, in the period 2021-August 2024. The loans are analyzed in terms of their granting structure and their dynamic evolution. Their grant structure refers to: activity of borrower, ownership of borrower, currency of credit, type of credit risk and maturity. The significant and sustained increase in loans granted during the analyzed period can be found in the private sector, in loans in lei. As types of credit risk, the highest share and growth is found in treasury loans. Inventory loans represent only 1,2 % of the total credits granted by credit institutions in August 2024, and equipment loans represent only 16,8 %. Funding for investment in new equipment is very low and negatively influences development.
