Summary/Abstract: This research proposes an analysis of the evolution of the main aggregated indicators of credit institutions within the Romanian banking system. The indicators reported by the National Bank of Romania, in the period 2020-2022, are analyzed in structure and dynamics. These indicators provide an insight into the performance of the banking activity and define the financial stability of the Romanian banking system. Also, the evolution of these indicators allows the identification of the risks and vulnerabilities to which the Romanian banking system is subject, as well as the recognition of priorities in the prudential supervision of credit institutions. The increase in the share of deposits of the population's deposits in the total deposits of non-governmental client residents shows the orientation of the population towards valuable reserves, which will provide them financial security. This orientation is generated by the economic decline, social insecurity and financial instability perceived by the population.
