INSTRUMENTS TO SUPPORT PRUDENTIAL SUPERVISION AND FINANCIAL STABILITY

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the evolution in structure and dynamics of the banking risk indicators reported by the Central Credit Register and the Payment Incidents Register. The analysis horizon covers the period from December 2021 to October 2023. For prudential supervision and financial stability, the National Bank of Romania has created and improved two main support instruments, namely the Central Credit Register and the Payment Incidents Register. Central banks are constantly analyzing the evolution of banking risk indicators aimed at managing the risk of payment instruments. Starting from these priorities, commercial banks are taking sustained measures to improve the quality and structure of their loan portfolio. The efficient management of risk indicators for banks ensures the stability of financial and banking systems.
