Summary/Abstract: It is evident that s human capital and also innovation processes and R&D level in achieving an economic growth and enhancing a competitiveness and the quality of life in regions has increasingly important. Although investment effects in mentioned areas have delay, their contribution to society is visible. The paper is aimed at verifying the impact of government expenditure on education (R&D) on economic growth within EU regions in the time period 1995 to 2008. The attention is paid to the specific position of V4 region. The impact of education and R&D support on a convergence process or divergence in income per capita of EU regions is verified by Sala-i-Martin methodology (1996). The analyses are focused on the multidimensional classification of EU regions in terms of share of government expenditures on R&D as well as education and economic growth rate. Considering results there is not confirmed explicitly the positive impact of R&D and education government expenditure on economic growth in time. Multidimensional analyses pointed out the low share of R&D and education expenditures in the European Union.
