Summary/Abstract: This article examines the Office of the Ombudsperson, an important mechanism through which individuals may seek legal redress against United Nations Security Council resolutions, within the framework of the principles of Global Administrative Law. The central question asks to what extent the UNSC Office of the Ombudsperson compensates for the absence of a judicial review mechanism in the oversight of targeted sanctions in accordance with the principles of Global Administrative Law, and what limitations this dynamic engenders. This article advances the following hypothesis: Although the Office of the Ombudsperson provides a limited degree of legal protection, its inability to function as the final decision-making authority prevents it from exercising its oversight capacity independently of political authority. Throughout the study, Global Administrative Law and the Office of the Ombudsperson are analyzed sequentially in correlation with each other. The concluding section presents a number of recommendations aimed at improving the existing system.
