Summary/Abstract: The present study reveals the necessity of using innovative approaches to teaching intercultural communication to students of higher education institutions. The authors determined that the effectiveness of intercultural communication training is provided by experiential learning methods: Case Studies, Intercultural Training \ Intercultural Workshop, Forum Theatre, Role-play, Storytelling, etc. This experiential learning encourages the active participation of all learners, aims to change behaviors, attitudes, knowledge, and understanding of others, promotes the development of the ability to act effectively in non-standard communicative situations, as well as the development of a wide range of information-searching, practical and professional knowledge and skills. These innovative approaches aim to lead learners to develop critical and reflexive thinking for themselves. Learning has cognitive, physical, and emotional dimensions, which are included in the approach of an innovative and active pedagogy. A creative combination of these methods will contribute to the development of students' ability to intercultural communication in the field of future professional activity, will develop the skills of avoiding and solving intercultural conflicts, the skills of effective professional communication with representatives of different cultures, the skills of using various communication styles, understanding cultural contexts and will contribute to the formation of learners` intercultural competence.
