Summary/Abstract: Ismail Kadare is the most emblematic figure of Albanian literature and one of the most distinguished figures in world literature. He represents a rare combination of art, history, and tourism, making him a “cultural ambassador” of Albania. His works, translated into numerous languages worldwide, have served as a window into Albanian culture and history. Through his literary creations, he has placed Albania on the global cultural map as a country not only with a rich spiritual heritage but also with a profound literary tradition. This theoretical study aims to highlight how the life, works, heritage, and birthplace of the writer have been transformed into points of interest for both domestic and international tourists. In its second and most significant part, the paper seeks to emphasize the impact that literature and great personalities have on the development of sustainable tourism in Albania. The study focuses on the city of Gjirokastër, the writer’s birthplace. His house museum in Gjirokastër, declared a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO, serves as a reference point for visitors from Albania and abroad. This study examines the role of Kadare’s museum, the house museum, tourist itineraries related to his life and works, as well as the impact this promotion has on increasing tourist interest. The research aims to analyze Kadare as a unique phenomenon, where art, history, and tourism merge to create a singular attraction of national and international significance. Through this analysis, it is suggested that promoting figures like Kadare can be an effective strategy to enhance tourist interest and strengthen the Albanian cultural identity.
