Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an empirical analysis of oral speech markers in spontaneous communication in Bulgarian, with a focus on phonetic features. The study establishes the presence, frequency and functions of characteristic oral speech markers and examines the influence of socio-demographic factors on their use. The results show that the main oral speech markers have a systemic and supradialectal nature, determined by the specifics of oral communication, while dialectal features are partially dependent on age and place of origin. Oral speech markers “in their pure form” appear approximately equally often in all informants and depend mainly on the informal communicative environment.
