Summary/Abstract: This article examines the largely overlooked poetic dimension of Abū Ḥayyān al-Andalusī, renowned for his expertise in language and Qur’anic exegesis, through an analytical approach. Although his contributions to grammar, linguistics, and Qur’anic sciences have been studied in Turkey, no independent study has been conducted on his poetic collection, its thematic structure, artistic features, and intellectual background. While studies addressing Abū Ḥayyān’s poetry exist in the Arab world, their number remains limited. Some adopt a broader perspective, yet there is generally a noticeable gap in the literature. This has resulted in insufficient visibility of the emotional and intellectual elements in his poetry and hindered a comprehensive understanding of Abū Ḥayyān’s literary identity. Consequently, there is a need to systematically reveal his poetic approach, the thematic diversity of his poetry, and his intellectual orientations, which constitutes the main problem of this research. The study employed an interpretive perspective and a qualitative method, specifically data analysis, to thematically classify Abū Ḥayyān’s arranged poetic collection and to conduct content and stylistic analyses within ghazal, elegy, mysticism, philosophy, description, praise, and wisdom. During the analysis, the poems were examined in light of rhetorical elements, and the ways in which the poet’s scholarly knowledge was reflected in his poetic language, as well as his use of imagery, symbolic expression, and word choice, were evaluated. In this way, the poems’ intellectual and literary dimensions were sought to be revealed more comprehensively, with attention also paid to the texts’ content features and coherence of expression. The scope of the research was directly limited to the poems contained in Abū Ḥayyān’s collection, and the inaccessibility of some verses lost over time constitutes a significant limitation. Moreover, rather than examining the entire collection in detail, the analysis was conducted on representative examples. While this allowed for a more thorough examination of the selected texts, it restricted the possibility of conducting a comprehensive qualitative evaluation of the entire work. The findings indicate that Abū Ḥayyān’s poetry demonstrates remarkable expressive power, high emotional intensity, and pronounced imagery. In some poems, mystical pursuits are prominent; in others, intellectual and rational depth is foregrounded; and in yet others, personal emotions are dominant. In addition, the extensive use of rhetorical devices demonstrates that Abū Ḥayyān was not only a scholar of language and Qur’anic exegesis but also a highly versatile intellectual figure with a unique poetic sensibility.
