Summary/Abstract: This article examines a possible canon of the biographical collection of the Literary Circle from Sibiu. The group’s memorials, mostly published after 1989, constitute the most detailed testimony of how the communist regime persecuted and eclipsed the so-called "lost generation", of the young creators affirmed at the end of the war. Many Cerchists were imprisoned politically  Ion D. Sîrbu, Ștefan Aug. Doinaș, Nicolae Balotă, I. Negoițescu, Ovidiu Cotruș, Wolf von Aichelburg  and were, for many years, banned from publishg. The analysis also follows the type of sociability within the group and the way in which it maintained its solidarity as a compact common body, over time. It also traces the dynamics of the coagulation of the Circle's literary doctrine (many of the ideas being launched by the theoretical head of the group, Radu Stanca), and the way in which the aesthetic principles of youth influenced the later literature of the members. In addition, the diagnosis of posterity showed that the considerable memorialistic corpus of the group is precious beyond the documentary value, of historical-literary testimony, because in the case of some of the members, the diary or epistolary represents even the most important and valuable part of their work.
