Summary/Abstract: The raw material of Marcel Mihalovici's creation, in the initial phase of creation, it was represented by a new approach to Romanian folklore, which was highlighted by a fast assimilation of a modern compositional language. The creation of the musician is therefore shaped by a wide range of concepts, and it is profiled as a synthesis of styles and techniques of composition. Mihalovici, in his works, has processed an inspired blend of the artistic heritage of ancestors and the folkloric melos, which opened him multiple perspectives in terms of its expressive, lyrical and even dramatically potential. An important symphonic work of Marcel Mihalovici's creation is Capriccio roumaine, composed in 1936 and dedicated to Alfred Alessandrescu. This work aims to offer a biographical portrait of the composer marking the most important moments of his artistic life and highlighting certain details of his life and work, focused on research of Capriccio's roumaine op. 40.
