Summary/Abstract: The subject of this review article is the edited volume „Sprachliche Kreativität in Bildungs- und Fachsprache“, edited by Kirsten Schindler and Alexandra Lavinia Zepter, published in 2025 by Narr Francke Attempto Verlag in Tübingen. The volume comprises 315 pages and is situated at the intersection of language didactics, linguistics, and psycholinguistics. At the core of the volume lies the question of linguistic creativity in educational and academic contexts, bringing together a range of theoretical and empirical approaches to this phenomenon. Already the title points to a tension between linguistic practice and the cognitive or mental preconditions of creativity, which is unfolded in various ways throughout the contributions. From a linguistic and cognitive-scientific perspective, the volume represents an important contribution to the current debate in which creativity is understood not only as a linguistic product or a property of texts, but also as a process, a situationally embedded practice, and a cognitively grounded capacity. The volume thus invites the readerto reflect on the extent to which linguistic creativity can be defined as an independent object of linguistic research, or whether it should rather be understood as an interface between language, cognition, and action.
