Summary/Abstract: Amir Timur (1336-1405), the founder of the Timurid State (1370-1507), was born in Central Asia and became an important ruler in Turkish-Islamic and world history by seizing power in Samarkand based Transoxiana in 1370. His name was especially mentioned with his large-scale military campaigns in the direction of Iran, Azerbaijan, the Golden Horde, India, Anatolia and China. Amir Timur, who died in Otrar during the Chinese campaign in 1405, spent most of his life fighting on horseback. Although Amir Timur’s activities in Anatolia came to the fore, especially with the Battle of Ankara with the Ottoman ruler Yıldırım Bayezid in 1402, his interest in Anatolia started at earlier dates. The focus of this study is the castle sieges of Amir Timur in Anatolia between 1386-1400. The aforementioned sieges were remarkable not only in terms of military successes, but also in terms of strategy, weapon technology and psychological warfare methods. The sieges discussed in the study changed the military and political balances of Anatolia and left deep traces in the memory of the people. Amir Timur’s harsh methods created a persistent atmosphere of fear in the region, which played a significant role in accelerating his conquests.
