Summary/Abstract: During the interwar period, cooking instructions were primarily found in two printed media: cookery books and newspapers. Both served as valuable references and sources of inspiration for housewives during that time. The purpose of this contribution is twofold. The first aim is to review the existing literature and the analyses of selected women’s magazines (Ženski Svet, Mladika, Vigred, Mati in gospodinja) and nine cookery books published in the interwar period in the Slovenian ethnic territory of the Drava Banate and Venezia Giulia, as well as to present their scope, the context of their activities, and the authors who supervised the creation of their culinary content. The second goal is to draw on the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of social structure to illustrate the connections between the authors’ life paths and their approaches to culinary writing.
