Summary/Abstract: This study analyzes the impact of television on the destigmatization process of former convicts, based on inmates' perceptions of how mass media can influence their social reintegration. The research is grounded in a semi-structured interview guide consisting of 10 questions, applied to a sample of 20 inmates from Timișoara Penitentiary, selected based on their prior participation in televised interviews or their viewing of programs addressing issues faced by former convicts. The findings suggest that the media can play a positive role in changing public perception, but the effectiveness of this process depends on the authenticity of the stories presented and the actual support from the community and employers.
