Summary/Abstract: Consumer ethnocentrism is defined as the tendency of consumers to prefer domestic products and reject foreign-origin products on economic and moral grounds. For a comprehensive understanding of the concept, it is necessary to evaluate sectoral dynamics in addition to general consumer attitudes. The aim of this study is to examine high-impact studies that address consumer ethnocentrism within a sectoral context through a systematic literature review. In this context, the effects of ethnocentric tendencies on consumer behavior across different sectors have been analyzed. Furthermore, the study presents a holistic theoretical framework for understanding ethnocentric tendencies in light of research on consumers' functional and moral evaluations. Accordingly, while the literature search was initiated using 1987—the year the concept entered the marketing literature—as a baseline, the study systematically reviews articles published between 1998 and 2024 that fully met the established sectoral focus and impact factor criteria.
