Summary/Abstract: This article examines the unity between the rules of transmission and the ethics of knowledge in alKhaṭīb al-Baghdādī’s understanding of ḥadīth methodology. The aim of the study is to show how the principles concerning the reliability of transmission, the competence of the narrator, and the evaluation of reports, as presented in al-Kifāya fī ʿIlm al-Riwāya, are complemented by the ethical and educational dimension found in al-Jāmiʿ li-Akhlāq al-Rāwī wa Ādāb al-Sāmiʿ. In this context, it is argued that al-Khaṭīb does not position the ḥadīth scholar merely as a collector of reports, but as a scholarly personality marked by truthfulness, precision, a sense of trust, proper conduct, and intellectual responsibility. Through a text-centered analytical method, the article will compare these two works and evaluate the function of transmission etiquette in the formation of the ḥadīth scholar’s identity. Ultimately, it will be argued that al-Khaṭīb presents ḥadīth methodology not merely as a field of technical rules, but as a holistic scholarly discipline completed by ethical responsibility.
