Summary/Abstract: This article presents some of the rhetorical characteristics of the current Romanian diplomatic discourse delivered by Romanian ambassadors in different states, presidents of Romania, and ministers of foreign affairs. This type of discourse is part of the set of subgenres of political discourse, along with the inaugural and deliberative speeches (POPA, 2023, p. 82-83). Diplomatic activity is governed by an institutional protocol that affects how communication is conducted and, consequently, how the discourse is structured.
