Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to analyse the manner in which postmodernist fiction establishes a point of interrogation as far as the conventional elements of narrative are concerned including the notion of character, as marked by ideological values and by representational features that can easily be identified with real emotional and physical traits. The characterological expectations of readers are very much defeated in postmodernism as they no longer deal with identifiable models or archetypal characters. On that account, a wide-ranging and experimental rethinking of fictional characterisation is constantly taking place.
