Summary/Abstract: This article examines the gazel “Âheste Çek Kürekleri,” performed by Münir Nureddin Selçuk during his rendition of the composition “Kalamış” at the 1964 Istanbul concert, within the framework of its form, melodic structure, rhythm, and performance characteristics. Through a structural analysis, the study demonstrates how the traditional gazel form was reinterpreted via Selçuk's neo-classical style. While detailing the “seyir” features, modal modulations (geçki), and melodic richness of the piece within the “Nihavend” makam, the research investigates the prosodic harmony established between the free rhythmic structure (unmetered performance) and Yahya Kemal's aruz meter, as well as lexical stress. In the scope of performance analysis, the artists vocal range, stylistic demeanor (tavır), exceptional diction, and extemporaneous vocal techniques are evaluated. By documenting the ways in which Selçuk’s distinct performance style transformed traditional forms, this study aims to contribute to the literature on the history and analysis of 20thcentury Turkish classical music performance
