Summary/Abstract: Among the librarians of the Batthyaneum library is a name that is known to researchers. András Cseresnyés was active in the first two decades of the 19th century and left behind an impressive number of inventories and catalogues that are still used by researchers of the library′s primary book holdings. He thoroughly carried out his job description, and when necessary, also took care of the technical-administrative aspects of the cultural settlement. Besides his activity within the library, A. Cseresnyés was also part of the Alba Iulia Chapter, the highest position held being that of the scholastic canon.Among the found archive documents, his ”job description” included making inventories, catalogues, keeping up correspondence with the researchers, arranging loans from the library, purchasing books, and even participation in scientific projects of the bishops (for example, Ignác Szepesy). All these duties were met successfully by the librarian A. Cseresnyés, who after completing his studies, started his activity as rector in Cluj, shortly reaching in Alba Iulia during the pastorate of bishop József Mártonfi. He was active in Alba Iulia until the end of his life.
