Summary/Abstract: Digitalization is a defining factor of the 21st century, extending into all areas of education. Digital competence is not only an expectation for educators but a fundamental requirement of educational systems. This research aimed to explore the role of smart devices in education as perceived by students in agricultural vocational training. The study involved 153 students from four randomly selected Hungarian secondary schools and was conducted through an online questionnaire. Results indicate that most students support the use of smart devices during lessons, though some concerns we reraised regarding their potential to distract. At home, students use these devices intensively for learning, which supports personalized education and collaboration. The research highlights the potential of digital technologies to enhance education while emphasizing the importance of their deliberate and targeted use.
