Summary/Abstract: In the examination of music education and parental involvement, parents’ opinions and perceptions regarding music education play a prominent role. In our research, we surveyed parents of children attending Hungarian language music schools in Romania about various areas of music education, with particular attention to parental motivations for music learning and forms of involvement. The aim of our study was to explore what motives led parents to enroll their child in a music school and which background factors influenced their decision. Data collection took place between April 2024 and April 2025, during which 128 parents completed our questionnaire online. In the analysis of the results, in addition to descriptive statistics, we conducted factor and cluster analysis, as well as independent samples t-tests and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to examine differences between variables. The results indicate that parental motivation is primarily child-centered, which is influenced by parents’ educational level, the number of children in the family, and the onset of music learning. Behind parental support are conscious developmental goals, the role of music within the family, as well as parental values and resources.
