Summary/Abstract: The article explores how women’s philanthropic giving enhances women empowerment in the working environment and how through philanthropic activity women gain skills, knowledge, experience and courage to increase their presence in business and politics. Women funds that started to emerge in the 1980s, work in the common effort of elevating women in their financial status, developing their capability to improve their life standard, supporting their families and themselves. The aim of this paper is to present how women funds create favorable grounds for leadership development through philanthropic and political activity. In this context, some of the positive examples of success stories of women becoming managers and CEOs of global corporations, justices of the U.S. Supreme Court, taking offices in local, state and federal level governments or successfully competing with men for the highest positions in the American establishment are presented.
