Summary/Abstract: Competitive benchmarking represents one of the most relevant instruments of management control, facilitating the assessment of an entity’s position in relation to its direct competitors and the identification of performance improvement opportunities. In the current context, characterized by a dynamic competitive environment and the increasing need to optimize managerial decision-making, the systematic comparison of financial indicators has become an essential component of the control process. This study focuses on the pharmaceutical sector in Arad County, Romania, through a comparative analysis of five representative companies: Karim Pharm, Hedera Helix Farm, Sinapis, Mirafarm, and Deryy farm 2000, over the period 2016–2025. Karim Pharm is employed as the benchmarking reference company, while the performance of the remaining entities is evaluated in relation to this benchmark. The research relies on a comprehensive set of financial indicators covering the structure of assets and financing sources, solvency, profitability, and resource management efficiency. The aim is to highlight the strengths, weaknesses, and development opportunities of the analyzed entities. The findings support managerial decision-making based on competitive benchmarking and emphasize its usefulness as a management control tool aimed at enhancing organizational performance and strengthening competitive positioning within the pharmaceutical sector of Arad County.
