Summary/Abstract: This chapter, War as a Narrative: The Imperial Army as the Opponent of the Ottomans, is based on several sources of Ottoman origin and examines how the Habsburg imperial army was portrayed and interpreted by its Ottoman adversaries. Particular attention is given to the Muslim perspective, which consistently depicts and disparages the enemy as an opponent of the faith, while also revealing a notable willingness to express critical observations regarding the Ottoman side itself. These narratives were not intended for broader public circulation; rather, they served internal and official purposes within the political and military leadership.
