Summary/Abstract: The transition from linear to circular economic systems represents a key strategy for reducing waste, improving resource efficiency, and supporting sustainable development. Used Cooking Oil (UCO) is a common waste stream generated by households, restaurants, and the food industry, yet it represents a valuable secondary resource for the pro-duction of biofuels, biochemicals, and other value‑added products. Improper disposal of UCO leads to environmental pollution, sewer blockages, and increased wastewater treatment costs. This paper explores how circular economy principles can be applied to the collection and recycling of UCO, focusing on the local initiative OilRight in Timișoara, Romania.
